Watercolor & Ink on Watercolor Paper
This painting features ginkgo leaves gathered across different moments in the year. Drawn with loose, continuous ink lines and layered with soft washes of green and yellow, the leaves overlap and shift, creating a sense of movement and change. Each leaf is observed individually, yet they come together as a connected whole.
Ginkgo leaves hold a special place in my heart. Every year for my birthday, my mom mails me a ginkgo leaf from my childhood home. Each October, the tree turns a warm, glowing yellow—a small but meaningful reminder of where I come from and the passing of time. That ritual has made ginkgo leaves a symbol of memory, home, and continuity for me.
Rather than capturing a single season, this piece brings several together, reflecting both personal history and the gentle, ongoing rhythm of change.
